Beach Day to finish the year

With the choir heading off to perform at the Pier, Room 7 (plus Toby, Jak, Thomas and Seth from Room 8) took our lunch down to the beach. Regan won our beach flags, and the sack races didn't work too well because some of the sacks had holes in the end of them!!
Our 'sand structure' creations showed great original ideas, and there was even one that looked like a pupil from our class!
Thanks to all our helpers who came along and got sand between their toes.

Our class project to 'Express Oursleves'

Here is an excerpt from a presentation Room 7 researched, prepared and is about to present to the school council. It is about how we want to look after our school, how we think our school should look, our rights and responsibilities as students at Freeville, and how we think we can help encourage the other students at Freeville to look after our school too.

Unfortunatley there were a few absences on the day of filming, but we all worked on this together - as a whole class - to express ourselves.

Earthquake Stories

On Saturday morning at 4:30 my dad got me out of bed and my dad said are you alright and I said yes I am alright and then my dad said to me go in mum’s bed and we do not have any power and mum and dad used their phone to see.
On Saturday I was in my bed, watching a movie. When the earthquake happened my Dad ran into my bedroom and grabbed me. One of the pots fell off and smashed on the lino. My Nana and Grandad were holding each other and their tv almost smashed. The power cut off. My Dad was scared but I thought it was cool. The power turned on again. I thought it was the wind. I went to sleep in my Dad’s room.
When the earthquake happened I was crying. After the earthquake finished I went into my Mum's bed and my Dad went into my sister's bed [Chelsea] and I couldn’t get back to sleep. The next day we went and gave some clothes to the homeless people. I felt good.
When the earthquake happened I did not do anything, until Mum told me to get under a table. I did that but I would not come out. Four days later I moved to Casebrook. I am staying there for a few months.
When the earthquake came at 4:30am, my Dad and Brother and Mum woke me up, and I said, “What is that?’’ Dad said, "It’s the earthquake." Then my Dad said, “Go to Ed’s room and sleep there.” My Dad went to get the emergency light. Then we went back to sleep.
When the earthquake came on Saturday morning, I was in bed and Dad came  into my room. He tried to get me out of  bed and  I said "I can’t see", because it was dark. I felt scared because it felt like strong wind.
On Saturday morning at 4.30am there was a gigantic earthquake. It shook my whole house. I started to scream because I did not know what it was. I thought it was a train on the road that had come off the railway track, although there are no railway tracks outside my house. Only a few glasses, a frame and a temperature thing broke; nothing else. Tyson my dog was so quiet. He was just sitting up in his cage looking around…
When the earthquake happened I was asleep, and then Mum said, “Earthquake, get the kids!" So Mum went to get me and my baby brother and Dad went to get my big brother and his friend. After the big 'quake I did not go back to sleep because I was in shock. My Nanna came to my place and then Nathaniel's friend's Mum came to pick Mitchell up, and then my Auntie came to my house and my other Auntie and two cousins came too.
The earthquake. It is 4am in the morning. I sleep through some of the earthquake. My mum woke me up. Mum was waking me up while Dad was having trouble opening the door.
When I got back from L.A., which was 1-week after the earthquake, there were some aftershocks. One nearly knocked over the bunk that my friend and me were playing psp on. My friend and I grabbed the bunk - he’s our next door neighbour.
When the earthquake hit my house I was scared because I live in a two story house.
My sister slept though it and my brother ran out of his room in his undies. I waited for my mum.
My Nana stood in the middle of the room and Grandad said, "Well there will be a lot of work for the builders."
The night the earthquake happened the stereo went through the wall and made a big hole, then Jacob’s tv fell off the shelf.

His mum came running for us but the power went off and she went into the kitchen and got torches. Then we all went to his mum and dad’s room.
I was at my Nana and Poppa’s  when the earthquake happened. It was my first earthquake ever. My nana was more freaked out than me. I had no  idea what it was. Nana dragged me out of bed. When the earthquake stopped Nana, Bella, Poppa and me hopped in bed.
On Saturday there was an earthquake at 4:30am me, Alex, Mum and Dad all thought it was a big gust of wind at first but then everything started shaking. The scale was 7.1 I was scared. So was Alex. We wanted Shane our older brother well we were under the table with our dovey I am still scared. Me and Alex stayed up with Mum and Dad because we were scared of shock. I spewed up of shock.
When it was Saturday morning at 4:35 there was an earthquake.
My Dad yelled out, “ Stay in your rooms", and then I ran to my Mum and Dad's room and my sister crawled to Mum and Dad’s room.

My Dad is great and he took me for a bike ride.
I was in my bed and then a shake came and then my dad said "Earthquake", and then my mum said "Girl’s come to me", and I ran out of my room. I ran to my mum and then my dad found the touches and then we looked around the house and there were no crackes and nothing broke.
When  the  earthquake started   I  was  asleep . I didn’t  feel it . When I woke up I was wondering  what was going on. My  dad  was  packing . My brother and sister were  telling  me to get up and  start  packing . When  we  were  driving  I  saw that  the  concrete  had  lifted  up off  the  ground .
